Just a few thoughts on today's Bible Class. In it, we read how God
warns against the silver tongued beguilement that abounds inside
mankind. Basically, beware, try and test what we hear or see, no matter
who appears to bring it to our attention. Obviously a very sobering piece
of advice and interesting one which the Bible requires . This advice is
repeated in the New Testament. Acts17 - the Bereans were more noble in
that when they heard a message they sought to prove whether the
message was true by testing it against the scriptural record. This
action is described as being noble or praiseworthy. Thomas often called
the doubter is mis-perceived as such, because he was in fact, doing the
Deuteronomy 13 test - basically I need proof! He should be named the
Verifier. This needs to be matched to believing in faith, yet although
often cited as such, faith is not blind. Hebrews 11v1-3. On the aspect of
beguilement, we are told Eve was beguiled by the serpent in the garden
of Eden. Hence the danger is present at the start. She was inexperienced
when facing that threat, - we thousands of years later are not. However the same recourse is/was available. What did God say on that matter? Always go there - we might not remember correctly. Always check, go forward on sure ground with confident steps, not with the mantle of assumption but the assurance of what the scripture saith. Remember Jesus walked by this rule and did not fall or fail call upon him in our time of trouble/difficulty.
ASK. Ask, Seek and Knock, are the three recourses we can follow, ask and ye shall receive seek and ye shall find. knock and it shall be opened unto you.
